My Father's Glory & My Mother's Castle (1990)

This universally loved two-part French film about the boyhood of playwright Marcel Pagnol will make you wish for more honest times. Bonus links included.

There are several interesting video links below that you may like. (1) The real Marcel being interviewed as a grown man, (2) a live presentation in 2023 of one of the original, beautiful musical pieces from the films, and (3) a French family RV-traveling through southern France to find and visit the original filming locations.

This is Marcel, the boy from the film, grown up and interviewed (on the subject of the Latin language), on April 30, 1958. Even if you don’t speak French, it can be interesting to watch for a minute or two just to get an idea of what the boy became in his older age.

Again, French is not absolutely necessary to enjoy this, but passable subtitles might be available through YouTube.
